Destination Engagement Shoot, Italy

Good morning lovely people,

I think it's fair to say it's now officially autumn; the leaves are turning to gorgeous shades of orange and yellows, furry pompoms are in every shop, and I still have my annual cold which is refusing to budge! As I am sat here in my jumper and slippers I can't help but miss the summer and all the amazing things that happened; a fabulous holiday in Dubai, getting engaged in Santorini (yay!) and taking my camera to gorgeous Italy.

In all my photography packages I offer an engagement shoot as standard. I believe they are so important. Think about it, it is such a strange and surreal experience having someone pointing a big camera at you and your other half whilst you're trying to act natural, and it can often result in awkward looking pictures from the uncomfortable situation. Especially if you don't have a bond with your photographer (so make sure you choose someone you get on with!).

Because of this my aim during our engagement shoot is to get you used to me and the camera, and therefore get you to relax in front of it. It usually takes a good 5 - 10 minutes before I see couples getting into it, but once you do then that's when the magic happens.

I use our time together to try different methods of shooting and work out which works best for you. Some couples prefer to be guided, others only need slight pointers, either way I ensure that my images show the real you.

This then ensures you have a great set of images before your wedding, but ultimately it means that we are guaranteed to get some amazing portraits on your big day in a shorter amount of time (which means less time away from your guests, win!)

If you are a destination bride then I offer two engagement shoots as standard, one in England, and then one abroad the day before or after your wedding. This allows us to explore the place a little more than we will on your wedding day, and gives you an extra set of gorgeous images.

If you are an English bride and fancy doing your engagement shoot abroad then just let me know! It's on my bucket list to get a quick flight over to Paris to shoot a loved up couple across the French capital.

But my main advice is to use your engagement shoot as an opportunity to get some really lovely photographs of the two of you and your love, it's not often you'll have professional photos taken so make the most of it! :)

Have a great weekend!
